Attendance and Random belong to the active Class. Attendance determines which Students participate in attendance-aware classroom activities, including Random.
Attendance controls participation
Record attendance for the active Class before using participation-aware tools. Students whose current attendance status excludes participation are not selected by Random.
This article focuses on that participation relationship rather than listing every attendance status.
Start a Random round
- 01
Open Random
Use Random from the active Class in either Seating Chart or Roster.
- 02
Check Unseated participation if needed
Settings > Include Unseated Students controls whether eligible Unseated Students participate. It is enabled by default.
- 03
Begin the round
Random chooses from eligible Students and shows the current Student.
- 04
Follow the progress
Previously picked Students receive checkmarks, and Picked X of Y shows progress through the current round.
Controls during a round
- Next — advance to the next Student.
- Skip — defer the current Student to the end of the round.
- Tap an uncalled Student — choose that Student next.
- Tap an already-called Student — review Already selected choices including Select Again, Mark as Skipped, and Cancel.
- New Round — start a fresh selection cycle.
Leave and resume an unfinished round
When you close an incomplete Random round, Seating Chart can preserve it so you can resume later, end it, or cancel leaving the round. Completing or ending the round clears that active round state.
