A Class can keep multiple named Seating Plans. One plan is active at a time, and that active plan determines the Seating Chart and Classroom you currently see.

The first Seating Plan

After a new Class completes its Classroom setup, Seating Chart creates an initial plan named Standard.

You can keep using Standard or create other plans for different classroom needs. Plans for the same Class may use the same Classroom or different Classrooms.

Ways to start a new plan

  • Duplicate Current Seating — begin with the active student-to-Seat arrangement.
  • Same Classroom, Students Unseated — keep the room but begin with every Student Unseated.
  • Another Classroom — choose another reusable physical room for the plan.
  • Generate with Seating Preferences — create a proposed arrangement from the Required and Preferred preferences you have defined.

Switch, rename, duplicate, or delete a plan

Use Seating to switch which plan is active and to manage the Class’s plans. You can rename or duplicate a plan when you need another version, and you can delete a plan you no longer need.

The final remaining Seating Plan cannot be deleted, so the Class always has a plan to use.

Temporary Seating

Temporary Seating is an unsaved alternate arrangement. It can begin from the current seating or with everyone Unseated, and you can shuffle or rearrange it without immediately replacing the active plan.

Save the result as a normal Seating Plan when you want to keep it, or discard it when you do not. Temporary Seating is not a permanent plan until you save it.
